Jo Ann Hyres: Why I Work at Amber Specialty Pharmacy

When asked why I work at Amber Specialty Pharmacy, the first word that comes to mind is heart. But before I get into that, let me explain why I left the sunny state of Florida and moved to Nebraska to be a part of this team.

After working for Amber Specialty Pharmacy as a consultant for a little over a year, my family and I relocated from Florida to Omaha to join the company in 2011. There were two things that really inspired me and convinced me to join the company. One was the level of customer service and customer satisfaction. I had never seen a company that worked so hard and empowered employees to do whatever is necessary to take care of the patient and customer.

The second was, in a word, heart. This business is not for everyone. But the people that work here truly have heart. Many of Amber Specialty Pharmacy’s patients are going through what is quite possibly the most difficult and challenging time of their lives. They are on a journey – and not one of their own choosing. We here at Amber Specialty Pharmacy have the opportunity to truly make a difference in their lives and care for them as if they are our own family members. That is a rare and beautiful gift.

Because I work in sales and marketing, I don’t have the opportunity to work directly with patients but I am fortunate enough to witness the impact that Amber Specialty Pharmacy employees make in the lives of patients. Hearing so many patient stories about how we have helped them through challenging times is the reason I am here. Amber Specialty Pharmacy has a very noble mission and I am so proud and humbled to be a part of this team.
